The College of the EPPO just appointed 15 European Delegated Prosecutors from Italy and 4 from Portugal. We have now already welcomed 75 European Delegated Prosecutors from 16 countries into our team. -

The College of the EPPO appointed today eight additional European Delegated Prosecutors to join the team: seven from Spain and one from Malta. The total of appointed European Delegated Prosecutors is now 56. -

European Chief Prosecutor sends letter to Slovenian Minister of Justice
The European Chief Prosecutor has sent a letter to Slovenian Minister for Justice Ms Lilijana Kozlovič, following a meeting this morning with Ms Tamara Gregorčič, the President of the State Prosecutorial Council of Slovenia, and Mr Drago Šketa, Slovenia’s General State Prosecutor. -

Eight more European Delegated Prosecutors appointed, one rejected
The College of the EPPO yesterday appointed eight more European Delegated Prosecutors, four from France and four from Latvia. One candidate from Lithuania was rejected by the College because the candidate does not meet all the necessary eligibility criteria foreseen by Article 17(2) of the EPPO Regulation for the appointment of European Delegated Prosecutors. So far 48 European Delegated Prosecutors have been appointed. -

Just in: seven nominations for European Delegated Prosecutor from Spain. The Spanish Minister of Justice sent a letter to the European Chief Prosecutor. We now have received candidates from fifteen participating EU Member States. -

Malta sends candidates to become European Delegated Prosecutor
In a letter from the Minister of Justice, Malta has sent the names of two candidates for the posts of European Delegated Prosecutor. The College of the EPPO will make a decision after assessing these candidacies. -

Latvia sends 4 candidates to become European Delegated Prosecutor
The Latvian Prosecutor General has sent us the names of four candidates to join the EPPO as European Delegated Prosecutors. We will now internally assess these candidates. Thirteen (out of twenty-two) countries have now sent their candidates. We still need a few more before we can start our operations. The proposed date for this is 1 June 2021. -

EPPO signs working arrangement with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Hungary
European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi and Hungary’s Prosecutor General Péter Polt have signed a working arrangement that defines the future level of strategic and operational cooperation between the EPPO and the Office of the Prosecutor General of Hungary. -

Start date of EPPO operations: European Chief Prosecutor proposes 1 June 2021 to the European Commission
European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kӧvesi has today sent a letter to European Commissioners for Justice, Didier Reynders, and for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, proposing 1 June 2021 as the date when the EPPO will start its investigative and prosecutorial tasks.
