European Chief Prosecutor congratulates Petr Klement on his appointment as Director-General of European Anti-Fraud Office

(Luxembourg, 4 November 2025) – The European Chief Prosecutor, Laura Kövesi, expresses her congratulations to Petr Klement for his appointment as Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). 

"I warmly welcome the appointment of Deputy European Chief Prosecutor Petr Klement to Director-General of OLAF. Petr Klement has an outstanding track record at EPPO, and the direct knowledge of the main challenges ahead, as well as concrete ideas on how to improve the level of protection of the financial interests of the EU.  I look forward to taking our cooperation with OLAF to the next level", said the European Chief Prosecutor, Laura Kövesi.   

Petr Klement has been Deputy European Chief Prosecutor since 29 July 2023, and has served as European Prosecutor for Czechia since his appointment in 29 July 2020. 

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) is the independent public prosecution office of the European Union. Itis responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU.
