(Luxembourg, 16 February 2024) – Today, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Zagreb (Croatia) is conducting urgent searches and investigation measures, as part of the investigation into suspected subsidy fraud and corruption at the Faculty of Geodesy of the University of Zagreb.
These activities, aimed at collecting evidence, concern several Croatian citizens who are suspected of having committed criminal offences of abuse of office and authority to the detriment of the EU’s financial interests.
The collection of evidence comes in the wake of the investigation led by the EPPO, in cooperation with the National Police Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (PNUSKOK) and the Tax Administration’s Independent Financial Investigation Sector.
The public will be informed about any further actions in the case in question.
The EPPO is the independent public prosecution office of the European Union. It is responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU.
Hrvatska: EPPO provodi nove pretrage u sklopu istrage na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu
(Luksemburg, 16. veljače 2024.) – Danas Ured europskog javnog tužitelja (EPPO) u Zagrebu (Hrvatska) provodi hitne pretrage i istražne radnje u sklopu istrage koja se provodi zbog sumnje u počinjenje subvencijske prijevare i korupcije na Geodetskom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.
Ove aktivnosti, čiji je cilj prikupljanje dokaza, odnose se na nekoliko hrvatskih državljana za koje se sumnja da su počinili kaznena djela zlouporabe položaja i ovlasti na štetu financijskih interesa Europske unije.
Prikupljanje dokaza odvija se u nastavku istrage koju provodi EPPO u suradnji s Nacionalnim policijskim Uredom za suzbijanje korupcije i organiziranog kriminaliteta (PNUSKOK) i Samostalnim sektorom za financijske istrage Porezne uprave.
O daljnjem postupanju u predmetnom slučaju javnost će biti pravodobno obaviještena.
EPPO je neovisan ured javnog tužitelja Europske unije. Odgovoran je za istragu, kazneni progon i podizanje optužnice za kaznena djela protiv financijskih interesa Unije.
