(Luxembourg, 6 October 2023) – Yesterday, at the request of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), the Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) conducted two searches in the Netherlands, in an investigation into VAT fraud involving car sales.

The searches were carried out in a house in Tilburg and the premises of a company in Kaatsheuvel. Several luxury cars and cash were seized, as well as bank accounts and physical and digital documents.

Yesterday’s searches are part of a larger investigation led by the EPPO, in which 27 investigative measures already took place in the Netherlands, France and Germany, on 14 and 19 June 2023.

The EPPO is the independent public prosecution office of the European Union. Itis responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU.
