Yesterday, the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi informed the Justice Ministers of the European Union about the implications of the latest developments with regard to the nomination of two (2) candidates for the position of European Delegated Prosecutors in Slovenia. The European Chief Prosecutor underlined that the persisting obstruction by Slovenia creates “a prosecution gap in the EPPO zone” and asked whether the budget of the EU can still be considered as adequately protected. Finally, she shared her grave concerns in this regard and recommended to all the relevant stakeholders to protect the financial interests of the EU in Slovenia with all the available tools.
