Croatia: Five persons arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offences of subsidy fraud and document forgery

(Luxembourg, 21 January 2026) – The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Zagreb (Croatia), in cooperation with the Dubrovačko-Neretvanska Police Department, is carrying out urgent evidentiary actions today, 21 January 2025, in Croatia.

The actions relate to five individuals and three legal entities suspected of having committed the criminal offences of subsidy fraud and document forgery, in connection with two projects financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF). 

After questioning the suspects, the EPPO will decide on further actions in the case in question and will inform the public about it in due course. Until then, no further details will be published.

All persons involved are presumed innocent until proven guilty before the competent Croatian courts.
