The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) has initiated an investigation against four Croatian citizens, as well as two companies, for the criminal offences of trading in influence and the abuse of office and official authority.

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office, in cooperation with the Croatian National Police Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (Policijski nacionalni Ured za suzbijanje korupcije i organiziranog kriminaliteta), is conducting urgent evidence-collecting activities today, 10 November 2021, in Croatia.

Today, the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza), led by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, seized assets worth €900 000 for the misuse of EU funds. The investigation is being carried out against six suspects in the region of Calabria (Italy).

Yesterday and today, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) coordinated an operation in which law enforcement authorities carried out searches, arrests and seizures worth €23 million in Czechia, Romania and Slovakia. Four people have been arrested, on suspicion of forming a criminal organisation and evading taxes.

The College of the EPPO has appointed 4 additional European Delegated Prosecutors in Bulgaria – the decision on 2 candidates is still pending.

Today, senior officials of the Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato) visited the headquarters of the EPPO in Luxembourg.

This morning, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) coordinated an operation where law enforcement authorities carried out searches, arrests and seizures worth more than €13 million in Germany, Italy and Bulgaria. The 10 arrested people are suspected of forming a criminal organisation and evading taxes.
