Germany: EPPO arrests suspect in investigation Huracán

Following a large-scale VAT fraud investigation led by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Cologne (Germany), code-named ´Huracán´ and the first conviction in this investigation last week, another suspect has been arrested today.

(Luxembourg, 6 November 2024) – Following a large-scale VAT fraud investigation led by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Cologne (Germany), code-named ´Huracán´ and the first conviction in this investigation last week, another suspect has been arrested today. 

According to the investigation, the suspect is believed to have participated as a primary actor in organised VAT fraud within a criminal organisation and facilitated tax fraud, resulting in a total damage of €11 million.

The EPPO is the independent public prosecution office of the European Union. It is responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to judgment crimes against the financial interests of the EU.
