EPPO signs working arrangement with the Spanish General Council of the Judiciary

Published on

The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) signed a working arrangement today (2 February 2022) with the General Council of the Judiciary of Spain.

The arrangement will allow European Prosecutors to use the so-called “Judicial Neutral Point”, a network of services that gives access to applications and databases of the General Council itself. Thanks to this, investigations into crimes that harm the financial interests of the EU will be to facilitated and processing times will be reduced.

EPPO will ensure the correct use of the communications network, to formulate requests for information only in the exercise of its functions and following a resolution that justifies it, and not to include the data obtained in databases or files that may be consulted by third parties, individuals or legal entities.

The working arrangement will be valid for four years, is renewable, and its application will be reviewed by a Mixed Monitoring Commission that will meet for this purpose at least once a year.
